Norfolk Fellowship

The Norfolk Fellowship programme is a fully funded intensive leadership training programme.

It provides up to 5 carefully selected emerging leaders in their field with an opportunity to study global economies, and provides first-hand awareness of the successes and failures of government policy and practice around the world. We work with the Fellows to prepare a bespoke study tour which lasts approximately 6 weeks and they can visit anywhere in the world. The programmes carbon footprint is fully offset.  When the Fellows return from their travels, they work together to prepare a report that they present to a specially invited audience in London.

Who we work with

The Trust approaches individuals who they consider can offer invaluable insight into specific topics and who will best benefit both personally and professionally from the Fellowship Tour.

Please contact Laura Foster on 07887 875176 for more information about our Fellowship programmes.

Short programme for MPs

In addition to our 6 week programme we also offer a shorter 2 week parliamentary programme especially designed around MPs' busy schedules.

Norfolk Fellowship Programme 2010

In 2010, the study tour will aim to understand exemplars of planned communities in Europe, America and Asia so that we can learn lessons from past and seek inspiration for the future, with the intention of informing the planning and development of new communities in the UK.

Objectives

To identify exemplars of planned communities in Europe, America and Asia and unpack the drivers for these new communities, the scale of development and the particular factors which have resulted in the establishment of resilient communities

To explore planned communities of different sizes, types and scale to understand the full extent of current thinking and underlying philosophies implicit in new neighbourhood/town and city developments.

To understand more about the role of the private, public and social sectors in the planning, design and implementation of a planned resilient community and how the interplay between the public, private and social sectors can results in a more or less resilient community.

To explore factors of solidarity, economy and environmental sustainability in supporting resilience within an community and how these factors can be strengthened by the social, private or public sectors

To capture examples of transferable practice in the development of planned communities, particularly in relation to renewable energies, low carbon transport, community participation,  social enterprise, effective governance, high quality design and alternative economic growth models.
